The UK Ministry of Defense is installing radar that is imperious to wind farms. Previously wind farm applications were denied because they were too close to radar towers that were adversely affected by wind turbine blades. The new radar installations don’t have that problem which will allow more wind farms to be built.




Volvo is one of nine European companies and institutes looking at developing composite material that can double as a battery. The Imperial College in London launched the project that includes Volvo as the only car manufacturer.
GE and Better Place have decided work together to promote the coming electric vehicle (EV) revolution. The two companies have identified four areas on which they will concentrate: “technology development, battery financing, electrifying corporate vehicle fleets and consumer awareness.”

This coming September, Motive Industries Inc. will introduce its new hemp based bio-composite electric vehicle (EV), the Kestrel. The car will be unveiled at the EV 2010 VE Conference and Trade Show in Vancouver. Using hemp in auto body composites is a way of creating a green and sustainable alternative to composite material currently used in cars.

Sorona is a material partially made from corn stalks, not corn. The second line that they claim is eco-friendly are a series of backpacks and laptop bags made from “natural” cotton canvas.
Yesterday, two of the best known ebook readers, the Kindle and the Nook significantly slashed their prices. Today, Borders, the home of both the Kobo eReader and the Libre eBook Reader, announced that it would be giving $20 gift cards to those purchasers of either one of their ereaders. Wait a month or two and see if the prices don’t drop even more.
