Filing your taxes online, also known as, e-filing, is the green way of filing your taxes. Of course there are some who need to use the services of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to file their taxes, but for everyone else, e-filing saves time, paper, printer ink and hopefully stress.

At least two sources of clean water are on their way to Haiti. The first is being provided by the aircraft carrier the USS Carl Vinson. The second is being shipped by Innovative Water Technologies. A third source from WorldWater & Solar Technologies may already be in place.

Every nuclear power plant in the world creates nuclear waste. We aren’t talking about something with a 10 year life span, but waste that will take 300 years to more than 100,000 years to decay to safe environmental levels. The problem of disposal continues to present problems especially now when so many nuclear reactors have reached the end of their life spans. A lot of proposals have been thrown out there but no real resolution has been reached.

The nuclear energy sector will be receiving $18.5 billion in loan guarantees to build new nuclear reactors. Building new nuclear power plants ended about 30 years ago when cost overruns caused a myriad of unfinished plants to be abandoned. Will the subsidies jumpstart a nuclear renaissance or will it simply disappear into a black hole? Is reviving the nuclear energy field a good idea? These questions have no quick and easy answers.

Our country is going on a low carbon diet. President Obama and the EPA will be implementing new regulations that will require 10,000 companies, municipalities and universities to start measuring their green house gas (GHG) emissions beginning January 1, 2010. Once the GHG emissions are counted you can bet that the government will then implement regulations and programs designed to reduce GHGs emitted by the companies, universities and municipalities that have to measure their GHGs.

Currently, it takes 30 months for a patent application to reach a “first office action”. It takes 40 months for it to be approved. That is almost three and a half years before new green technologies can go into production and easily causes new ventures the loss of investors. That’s why the US Patent and Trademark Office(USPTO) has decided to accelerate the processing of selected green technology patents.

It seems that Antarctica is experiencing a meltdown, literally. Both sides of the continent are experiencing increasing loss of ice which could mean rising ocean levels that threaten inhabitants of many small island nations.

A UK research study says we could see global warming of 4 °C by 2060. 2060 means that our children and grandchildren are looking at living in a much warmer climate and different world than we live in today.
