TreeZERO offers treeless paper
If you decide you are tired of paper made from recycled paper or tree waste, here’s another eco friendly paper you can try. TreeZERO believes that trees belong in forests and not in paper. That is why they developed a copy paper that doesn’t come from trees but from quick growing bamboo and sugar cane.
TreeFrog the name of TreeZERO’s copy paper doesn’t contain any tree fibers. The company doesn’t use trees in any form even recycled. Instead copy paper is made from “100% recycled sugar cane and bamboo fibers.” TreeFrog paper is constructed of 70 percent sugar cane and 30 percent bamboo.
Since sugar cane can be harvested twice a year and bamboo grows to full height in three or four months, copy paper can be manufactured from quickly renewable, sustainable resources. Trees usually take ten or more years to grow after being chopped down to make paper. The swift growing plants used in TreeFrog won’t leave hill sides bald from clear cutting or mean that more and more forests are cut down for paper production while other areas are slowly growing back
TreeZERO has located its factory next to its crop fields to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The sugar cane is harvested by a third party for its sugar and the left over stalks (begasse) are used for making the paper. The bamboo comes from construction sites, scaffolds, and other uses. Whatever waste the factory produces is either recycled for its own use or for other companies. The resulting paper comes from sustainable resources and can be recycled with traditional paper or composted.
TreeFrog copy paper meets the appropriate standards required by all copy paper as certified by a third party lab. The results are that “TreeFrog is a premium copy paper (22 lb., 92 brightness).”
It’s unclear where you can purchase this paper since the website doesn’t provide an online store or retail outlets where it can be purchased. The company should have all of that information up fairly soon.
