Jackie Chan will be selling Brammo’s Enertia in Asia
Jackie Chan has teamed up with Brammo to sell its motorcycles in Asia through his company JCAM Advanced Mobility Company Ltd. Brammo’s initial offering is the Enertia, a motorcycle that will reach speeds of 60+ miles per hour and will travel 20 to 40 plus miles depending on your driving habits and route.
JCAM was co-founded in 2005 by the legendary actor Jackie Chan. The company was created to market zero emissions products in the Asian market. Brammo’s electric motorcycles were a natural fit. The bikes will be sold in Hong Kong and Singapore beginning this year.
"Partnering with a global film and business icon like Jackie Chan further validates the Brammo brand — much like our U.S. partnership with retailer Best Buy — as being an innovator in both product development and retail distribution," said Brammo Founder and CEO, Craig Bramscher. "We expect great results with JCAM and look forward to a long partnership and many satisfied customers in the markets they serve."
Brammo, an Ashland, Oregon company, builds 100 percent electric motorcycles. The Enertia will reach top speeds over 60 mph. The website states that the traveling distance will depend on riding style, traffic type, and weather conditions. If you are driving in urban areas, Brammo estimates you can travel over 40 miles before needing to recharge. Riding in Suburban/rural areas will limit distances to 30 miles while high speed commuting will lower your distance to 20+ miles.
The motorbike doesn’t have a clutch or gears which making it very easy to ride. Stop and go traffic doesn’t require constant gear changes so your wrist and foot don’t get tired. The price is $7,995. After the $800 Federal plug-in credit for buying an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid the price could be a little as $7,195. Various online charts will show you how much money you’re saving based on the type of car, truck, or gas motorcycle. Your reduction in CO2 emissions are also calculated. Charging time is four hours.
It can’t hurt to have Jackie Chan hawk your bike especially in Asia where he is an even bigger movie star. I’m not sure having Jackie Chan or Best Buy sell your motorcycle “validates the brand”, but Jackie Chan certainly gives it a little celebrity sparkle.
